Abstract :
Caruachi hydroelectric power plant represented the most recent technological achievement in CVG EDELCA. Currently Caruachi power plant has twelve (12) generating units in service with total capacity of 2160 MW. Parallelly the control service where the operators is being commissioned of this plant. To control the generation of active power, exist a function called automatic generation control (AGC), whose main objective is control the generation of the Caruachi´s units to fulfill the CVG EDELCA requirements. Because of the importance this function has, necessity arises documenting all the concepts that have been adopted in the Caruachi´s AGC, such as control modes, control levels, processing modes for the plant and control modes and levels for the generating units into the AGC. This paper describes the main characteristics of the AGC adopted for Caruachi hydroelectric power plant, which represents a step forward in the technology of the control center configuration for this plant
