Abstract :
In 1997, the SMB-Competence Program was established to strengthen small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) by better linking to the universities and colleges. By taking advantage of the program SMBs may, with national economical support, hire newly graduated personnel plus faculty member time for research and development work for one year. The program ends in year 2000. After two years of operation, the intermediate evaluation reports indicate that this may be one way among others to enhance cooperation between universities and SMBs.
