Abstract :
The safety of magnetic-resonance in vivo diagnostic procedures was the subject of a recent study by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The available literature on the biological effects of the static, time-varying, and RF magnetic fields was reviewed, and additional studies were carried out to address particular issues. As a result of this study, guidelines for manufacturers with regard to safety issues have been issued. The results of the review and the additional FDA sponsored studies, along with the recommendations contained in the FDA guidelines are presented.<>
