Abstract :
A miniaturization technique for microstrip square open loop resonators is presented in this paper. The method is based on the capacitive loading of the resonators. The effect of this technique on the coupling between resonators is studied as well as the effect on the quality factor of each resonator. A 1 GHz bandpass filter is designed, simulated, and built in order to test this technique. The final prototype has an area of 20% that of a filter using conventional square open loop resonators.
