  • Abstract
The smart grids enable small scale distributed generation. The microCHP has lot of advantage compared to the traditional gas boiler devices. In the next decade the spread of over millions of new microCHPs can be expected worldwide. We built a petrol/NG/PB fueled experimental household unit from a second hand car engine and a squirrel cage induction motor. Taking into account the millions of thrown away car engines each year, this system can be built for 30% of the cost of the new product. The microCHP device is ready built, tests are running. Now comes the development of speed (power) control, remote controllability, reactive power handling. In the future a program can be developed for the useful applications of the second hand car engines.
