Abstract :
We have designed and constructed a cesium fountain as our new generation primary frequency standard. Serial performance measurements of components and assemblies are finished. A cold atomic cloud with diameter 1.5 mm and temperature ⩽150 μK has been observed in a magneto-optical trap set-up. It is used to obtain the optical molasses designed for the fountain clock
