Abstract :
This paper describes a measurement technique for detecting the weak spurious-modes in quartz plates. This method picks up the weak nearby modes by measuring the frequency characteristics of the high-frequency voltages, which are excited at resonant frequencies, at many points on the plate surface. The measured results for two strip AT-cut quartz resonators show that this technique is able to detect very small resonance modes which could not be detected by conventional methods
