Abstract
As applications requiring guaranteed QoS gain in importance, IP networks have begun to provide QoS management in an effective manner. Good network design, simplicity, high availability, and traffic protection are the keys for providing QoS in the IP backbone. It makes a network more robust against failure and prevents many QoS-related problems from happening. This article analyzes the QoS-related problems and QoS control mechanism in the IP backbone, and then describes a practical approach for providing QoS in the IP backbone. This approach puts the most QoS function at the end-node and makes use of dynamic flow-control mechanism in it. So the proposed approach has not only adaptation but enable the network simplicity
