Abstract :
This paper describes a knowledge-based approach for the environmental compliance auditing of EIA related developmental projects in Malaysia. Environmental compliance auditing mainly checks the environmental compliance and suitability of mitigation measures taken during project activities. Environmental compliance auditing depends very much on the careful selection of monitoring variables and useful manipulation of the monitoring database. It involves the baseline data or guideline values for comparing the changes in environmental conditions, monitoring database for selected variables, identifying the causes and effects of environmental pollution, and recommending remedial measures
