Abstract :
The analyses presented in this paper are based on a survey among senior technology officers from 209 large companies from Western Europe, North America and Japan. The main results are: there is a growing tendency to acquire technology from external sources; and the international generation of research and technology plays a very important role in the strategies of the companies investigated and the data show that it will certainly gain further momentum
