  • Abstract
A semester-long team project is described for Freshman Engineering Design. The project utilizes the EPA Energy Star Buildings protocol to conduct energy analyses of buildings and prepare design recommendations for cost-effective, energy-efficient building upgrades. The design recommendations were implemented by the University of Virginia´s (UVa) Facilities Management and the class was cited by the US Environmental Protection Agency in naming UVa the 1999 Green Lights Education Partner of the Year.
