Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have proposed and demonstrated a new scheme for PARS and CARS, by replacing a tunable laser with a Raman shifter. Detection limit of ppm order can be attained for H/sub 2/ or CH/sub 4/ in the atmosphere. Because the construction is very simple, these techniques are useful for continuous monitoring of atmospheric species.
