Empirical Research on Adjustment of Industrial Structure and Technical Progress Affecting Resource Cities´ Economy

This paper applies nonparametric Malmqusit index to measure total factor productivity of seventeen different kinds of resource cities from 1995 to 2008. The results show that total factor productivity grew at 3.5% annually. Technology progress is the main reason of total factor productivity and technology efficiency prevent it from growing. However, the total factor productivity and it reason of different kinds of resource cities are different. However, the transformation of proportion of the second industry is the main reason of the development of urban economy.
