Abstract
An ERS SAR PRI coastal polynya classification algorithm is presented for extracting polynya size and shape from the surrounding ice area. The algorithm is based on texture and intensity but also on additional discontinuity information from a 2 dimensional wavelet transform. This further increases the possibility for high resolution studies of coastal polynyas by single frequency and single polarised SAR data
