  • Abstract
As part of ground truthing efforts for the Southern Great Plains Hydrology Experiment 1999, a laser scanner was used to characterize surface microtopography. The scanner employs a line laser and a digital camera to measure soil surface profiles at millimeter resolutions over an area of 3.6 m by approximately 0.4 m. The scanner, operational procedure, and calibration process are described in this paper, along with a summary of the data sets collected
