Abstract :
We present here the results of the simulation trials in the UMTS downlink receiver. An SPW implementation of the downlink system is built and analyzed. A RAKE receiver with multiple fingers is employed in the UMTS downlink receiver to take advantage of the multipath channel. Each finger within the receiver performs channel estimation to obtain the channel coefficients. Performance curves for the receiver for the two path and four path channel models are provided. The presence of multipath destroys the orthogonality among the various channels and this invariably results in interference in the detection of the desired signal. Here, we investigate, an interference cancellation scheme whose performance improvement is studied through end-to-end simulations
