Abstract
Bangladesh is studied as an example of a developing nation which has overcome deployment challenges to achieve substantial growth in the utilization of photovoltaic technology. Policies of the government related to photovoltaics are outlined, the overcoming of deployment challenges is described and avenues for photovoltaic system cost reductions are given. It is posited that lessons learned from Bangladesh may be applied in similar markets in order to sustain or accelerate high growth rates and rapid cost reductions of photovoltaic technology.
