Abstract :
This paper sets out to contrast e-government policies in the USA and the UK, placing them within the context of broader administrative reforms. Consequently, this links the emergent technology with past organisational "architecture", the heart of which is the \´new public management\´ developed within the 1980s and 1990s. It is argued that e-government is an increasingly transformative phenomenon, and that the focus has been set on a network of change agents based across the two governments, rather than the technology itself. In conclusion, it is asserted that this could be a divergent step in public-sector management
