Abstract
In this paper, a fault detection filter (FDF) is used to estimate the reduction of control effectiveness in discrete-time dynamic systems. Control effectiveness factors are used to quantify faults entering control systems through actuators. The reduction of control effectiveness is due to the actuator malfunction or the control surface impairment. Key advantages of the proposed fault detection filter are ability to handle multiple abrupt actuator faults..
