Abstract :
Multilevel coded wavelet packet multicarrier (MLC-WPM) system is supposed for image transmission with unequal error protection (UEP) by the non-uniform signal constellation design. Bit-based data division scheme are proposed and different Daubechies wavelet as orthogonal basis functions are investigated to compare their performance. Simulation results show that image transmission by UEP with bit-based data division scheme presents much higher PSNR values and surprisingly better image quality, and by considering the tradeoff of complexity and bit-error-rate, Haar wavelet with simple structure is most suitable among orthogonal Daubechies wavelet series in our proposed system.
