Abstract
As the dynamics of the socio-economic system is also influenced by the legislative and the judicial authorities, it is possible to consider electronic governance (e-G) in a broader sense, which includes all three state authorities (executive, legislative and judicial). This paper focuses on some key problems of the informatization of the judicial system (JS) as part of the e-G. It was inspired by the situation in Romania. A model of the JS is proposed, on the basis of which a number of closed-loop circuits are identified and possible performance definitions are exemplified. A number of suggestions are formulated concerning the use of information and communications technology (ICT) in the transforming countries. The JS is, in essence, an information and knowledge collection, storage, processing and distribution system. This is why its informatization may contribute, in a large measure, to increasing its performance
