Abstract :
The structure of a new combinational TRUM (Traveling Rotational Ultrasonic Motor) and a new simulation system were introduced. The simulation system was designed to test the TRUM mechanical characteristic under vacuum and high/low temperature environment. The new TRUM has a combinational structure of double rotors and double stators. Then an environment test was taken to the combinational structure TRUM at -80°C ~ 100 °C and 10-5 Pa ~ 10-3 Pa. The result shows that maximum speed and maximum torque of the combinational TRUM increased under vacuum and low temperature environment with temperature reducing. Its maximum speed decreased under vacuum and high temperature environment with temperature rising. The new structure achieved a great torque of 2.2 N·m and a large speed of 210 rpm. And the driving ability of the motor restored fully after the environmental test. The motor with the new structure has good adaptability under extreme environments.
