A publishing tool for object-oriented databases

A new publishing tool using the concept of hypertext views for object-oriented databases is presented. With this tool, one can make the contents of a database accessible through a Web interface to data browsing tools without knowing the storage structure of the database. Unlike other publishing tools, this one is completely declarative and based on the database´s semantic links, thus it does not need any database or server programming. First an approach to map database objects to hypertexts is introduced. Then we show how to include these approaches in an entirely declarative hypertext view definition language. Finally, a prototype translator for generating a World Wide Web (WWW) hypertext view is introduced.
