Abstract :
Summary form only given. We describe the applicability of what is in many ways the simplest semiconductor saturable absorber structure, the saturable Bragg reflector (SBR), to an Nd:YLF laser. Unlike the A-FPSA, the SBR is fabricated using a single-stage growth under normal temperature growth conditions, requires no post-processing and can be designed in a simple, straightforward manner. The resultant device has very low loss and low dispersion.
