  • Abstract
The 2008 paper entitled ¿Prototype Design and Experimental Results for an Intruder Detection Swarming Network¿ describes the design of an intruder detection and tracking sensor network that exhibits swarming behavior. This initial work investigated the viability of using simple tones for signaling and combining tones from multiple nodes. In this paper we present the architectural details of our implementation of the prototype using MICAz motes with acoustic sensors. We use the prototype to demonstrate the swarming behavior of a field of motes in a realistic physical environment. We explore the effect of various sensing parameters and network configurations. Our prototype validates the swarming sensor network concept applied to intrusion detection.
