Abstract
The stress fields in the infinite electrostrictive plate with an elliptic inhomogeneity are discussed in this paper. Firstly, the general solutions of functions for electric and stress fields are derived with the help of analytical complex method. Secondly, explicit results by the complex series expanding, are given for the cases of electrostrictive material with an elliptic inhomogeneity. Finally, numerical calculations are made to discuss the effects of applied electric loading on the certain problem. It is found that, although the electric fields in the inhomogeneity are uniform, the stresses in the inhomogeneity are not uniform in general case, which is different from the solution of Eshelby theory for elastic materials.
