Abstract :
Number portability (NP) is a circuit-switched network capability which allows telephone subscribers to change service provider, location, and service type without having to change their telephone number. Telecommunication service providers need an NP capable service switching point (SSP), service control point (SCP) with NP database, and a service management system as a network element to have NP capability. Several solutions have been proposed for implementing NP using the intelligent network. Among them three solutions including query on release (QOR), one step all call query, and two step all call query are under consideration by telecommunications service providers in Korea. This paper describes the architecture and functions of the SSP simulator which is used for modeling the service provider´s solution. An example information flow between the SSP simulator is examined.
