Abstract
Mobile nodes communication quality of wireless network based on mobile-IP is affected by mobility overhead rather than actual data transmission traffics. Thus, binding updates and handovers must be optimized for the wireless network efficiency. HMIPv6 with local mobility management is suggested for them. However, actual networks, which is applied HMIPv6, are not always symmetrical hierarchy topologies. Therefore, there are needs for two kinds of considerable factors when organizing wireless network using HMIPv6 based on actual wired network. First of one is the congestion of control signals. This is caused from the centralized binding updates at a root router. Second of one is the binding update delay. This is caused from processing binding updates through many hops of routers, which are placed between a root router and mobile nodes, in asymmetric wired network. Thus, we suggest the scheme of virtual router layer based on HMIPv6 to optimize control signal processes. To support our study, we analyze HMIPv6 applied to asymmetric topology networks and experimented HMIPv6 and our suggestion for efficiency comparison
