Abstract :
This paper provides an overview of FASTNETS, a multimedia streaming system designed to overcome the characteristics of IP networks, and in particular mobile IP networks, to provide users with continuous multimedia of consistent quality with minimal start-up delay. H.264 video compression is used to achieve acceptable video quality over GPRS to mobile clients, such as the Nokia 7650.
