The dismal dilemma, which can be described as man verses nature, is a universal theme that echoes in the Dismal Swamp highway proposal supported by the North Carolina Department of Transportation for a new four-lane road on the eastern side of the swamp. Students in the eighth grade have engaged in an interdisciplinary unit “A Dismal Dilemma” consisting of eight weeks
