Abstract :
Difference of assembly time, which dues to varied labor proficiency, has impact on efficiency of assembly line balancing. Two different working teams may even result in imbalance of assembly line. On account of this problem, this paper took axle assembly line of an axle assembly plant for example, conducted proficiency tests of the two working teams and calculated the assembly time of each worker on every station on the basis of regular assembly line balancing, followed by overall optimization using genetic algorithm which makes productivity of the two working teams more balanced, so as to can achieve the optimization of assembly lines.
