Abstract :
CMAC (cerebellar model arithmetic computer) is a perceptron-like neural network that was developed to mimic the functionality of the human cerebellum in complex motor tasks. It is proposed that CMAC-like networks be used to process the dynamic and concurrent variables involved in the motion of upper-body cybernetic limb prostheses. An example of a four-degree-of-freedom above-elbow prosthesis is provided to illustrate how this approach can be implemented.<>
