Abstract :
Choosing the coordinate scattering centers (CSCs) for the Semi-Analytic Mode Matching (SAMM) algorithm is a critical and heretofore unexplored aspect of this method, necessary for the ultimate goal of simulating full 3D scattering. Establishing the locations at which modes originate is essential for accurate modeling of electromagnetic fields with SAMM. Six test scattering objects are investigated, and the CSCs are found for each by considering the radii of curvature at each ¿fitting¿ point on the objects´ perimeters. Additional CSCs are needed for scattering objects which have long ¿flat¿ regions. Excellent results are found comparing SAMM and Finite Difference Frequency Domain (FDFD) for 2D scattering objects several wavelengths in size.
