Abstract :
In order to transfer technologies related to ITS (intelligent transportation systems) from research laboratories to the real world, it is important to develop both component technologies and total system design technique. This paper describes a requirements-oriented system design approach for ITS. With this method, we identify fundamental requirements and transform them into a physical architecture through several conversion processes. This approach is expected to promote system architectures which are free from unnecessary and unconscious constraints
