Abstract :
CoPt films are electrodeposited from a chlorite-based bath. Magnetically isotropic samples are then obtained after annealing under vacuum and H2 reducing atmosphere with coercivities as high as 1 T. It is found that annealing under H2 is likely to decompose hydroxides incorporated during the electrodeposition which leads to a smaller amount of impurities in the films resulting in higher coercivity compared to vacuum annealing.
