Abstract :
Although geographic information systems (GISystems) have been widely used in both public and private sectors, geographic information is still not effectively used by common citizens for their everyday´s life. A metropolitan spatial service infrastructure (MSSI) is a new vision to build a societal GIS allowing every citizen to create, share, and use geographic information and services. We propose our vision of MSSI and introduce a demonstration of Tianjin guide portal which implements the MSSI idea and conceptual framework. The user-centered design can encourage the development of rich user-oriented services tailed for personalized needs.
