Abstract :
A method is described to recognize the white lane markers using image processing for an autonomous vehicle. There are many recognition methods for white lane markers. Many of them use a binary representation of the differential values of brightness. Sometimes, it is difficult to recognize markers, for example within shadows. Therefore, we propose an image processing method for recognizing lane markers using a certainty value. It is shown that white lane makers are recognized using the certainty value even in poor visibility conditions such as shadows. Finally, we have carried out an experiment for an autonomous vehicle using this recognition method, and the significance of this method was confirmed
