Abstract :
This paper presents in detail the results of the 2D finite element (FE) analyses carried out on 6/4, 3-phase and 8/6, 4-phase doubly salient permanent magnet motors (DSPM). This analysis is used to establish appropriate relationship between flux densities of various performance effecting areas of both 6/4 and 8/6 configurations of DSPM motors. The calculation of leakage factor, which is used for accommodating the magnet flux leakage, has been presented.
