Abstract :
Summary form only given. We make a comparison between the relevant nonresonant nonlinear optical properties of an AlGaAs multiple quantum well (MQW) heterostructure before and after intermixing. In particular, the wavelength dependence of the nonlinear refractive index, two- and three-photon absorption, and the ratio between self-phase modulation (SPM) and cross phase modulation have been experimentally investigated. The waveguide used in this work was designed to support a single slab mode at 1.5 /spl mu/m and was grown by metal organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) on a semi-insulating GaAs.
