Abstract :
Jitter analysis and decomposition is crucial in diagnosing and evaluating high-speed serial communications systems. A new method for jitter analysis and decomposition based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) is proposed. Using the proposed method, we can analyze jitter time-frequency trend and decompose jitter into random jitter (RJ) and sinusoidal jitter (SJ) in the time domain. Moreover, standard deviation of the RJ and peak-to-peak value of the SJ can be accurately estimated by the EMD algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed method provides more accurate results than other methods.
