  • Abstract
In the present investigation report the chemical synthesis and characterization of three different substituted colored triarylcation antibiotics including their complex formation with gold nanoparticles. UV-visible spectrum, FT-IR, Cyclic voltammetry, and transmission electron microscopic analysis were used for investigating the interaction of these drugs (turbomycin, methyl turbomycin and methoxy turbomycin) with gold nanoparticles. Further, the microbial efficacy of gold nanoparticles in conjugation with various antibiotics is investigated against various strains of gram-positive and gram- negative bacteria´s. Drugs with methoxy group improve the activity against DNA gyrase at both the bacteriostatic and bactericidal levels. The methoxy group increases the hydrophilic behavior and increases the rate of resistance. Hence, various substituted turbomycin were chosen to study their effect with citrate stabilized gold nanoparticles. The results indicate that pure drug shows lower activity against antimicrobials compare to drug stabilized gold nanoparticles.
