Abstract :
Summary form only given. Single-crystal thin films of 4-aminobenzophenone (ABP) having large area and excellent optical quality surface have been prepared by a modification of the shear method. The area and thickness of the films were 1 cm/sup 2/ and 4 /spl mu/m, respectively. Polarized optical microscopic studies confirmed the single-crystal nature of the films. The crystallographic plane and the molecular orientation on the substrate were determined by X-ray diffraction technique. The surface orientation of the film was found to be [100]. The charge transfer axis lies close to parallel to the surface of the film. The optical absorption spectra, measured by visible spectroscopy, revealed a large window of transparency extending down to 390 nm, making it suitable for blue light generation.
