Abstract
This paper presents an online combined approach for detection of oscillations in control loops based on an adaptive modified version of the integral of absolute error (IAE) algorithm and on the Hilbert transform. The main contributions are: a) the combined approach using the modified IAE algorithm and the estimation of instantaneous frequency using the Hilbert transform; b) the detection of sustained and non sustained oscillations in real time. Experimental results on a DC motor setup demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach.
