Abstract :
In this paper, the performance evaluation of eleven-phase induction machine using selective harmonic elimination, (SHE), technique compared with quasi-square inverter output voltage is introduced. Despite SPWM gives a good current pattern, it has a limitation in medium voltage drives due to high switching frequency. The SHE offers a limited switching frequency as well as the elimination of low order harmonics. A comparison in terms of torque-current and torque-efficiency characteristics, between SPWM, SHE, and quasi-square inverter output voltage is given in this paper. SHE is also used to control machine speed using conventional V/f control. An eleven-phase prototype induction machine is used for experimental verification, while simulation using MATLAB /SIMULINK is used to confirm the experimental results.
