Abstract
We consider the properties of the short time Fourier transform as a representation of the distribution of the analytic signal in time and frequency and use the properties of the surface to remap the surface and reconstruct the analytic representations of signal components. In the remapping, the phase gradient of the surface is used to redistribute the signal on the surface, resting in a more focused image of multicomponent FM signals. In the reconstruction of analytic signal components the STFT surface is summed, resulting in a direct inversion process, which does not involve the use of inverse transforms
