Abstract
According to the IEEE 802.16j standard, a Mobile Station (MS) connects with a Multi Relay-Base Station (MR-BS) through a Relay Station (RS). Because there could be multiple paths between a MS and a MR-BS, it is important for a MS to select an appropriate path to transmit data. Although many path selection schemes have been proposed, they are designed for delivering real-time data rather than best-effort data. In this paper, we propose a path selection scheme designed for best-effort data delivery, named the BEDPS scheme. Considering bandwidth of all available paths, our scheme uses each available path to transmit an appropriate quantity of best-effort data in order to get the minimal total average delay time in the network. Our scheme is evaluated with simulation tests for observing its performance in different scenarios. In the simulation tests, our scheme makes a MS have good performance when it transmits best-effort data.
