            Abstract : 
Current screen CPP-GMR was investigated using various lower-electrode materials to vary its´ crystalline structure with the aim of individually controlling the resistance and MR ratio. Furthermore, these CPP-GMR films were applied to read heads and the read-head performance for perpendicular recording was evaluated. The read heads showed a high output of 2.1 mVp-p and high SNR of 30 dB, using CPP-GMR with 3% MR ratio and 0.6 Ωμm2 RA. A current screen CPP-GMR film with an MR ratio of over 6% at 0.3 Ωμm2 RA was obtained.
