Abstract
Statistical reconstruction methods are especially suitable for use with low-count statistics. We propose a special, for-transmission modified, ordered subset expectation algorithm (mTR-OSEM). This algorithm was adapted for use in connection with an existing Medipix-CT. The combination of the Medipix with different semiconductor materials for the tomographic imaging and the Maximum - Likelihood - Expectation - Maximization - based reconstruction allows a reduction in the accelerated X-ray dose while maintaining good image quality. Basic information about the Medipix-CT, and its reconstruction requirements will be presented in addition to the first reconstruction results.
