Abstract
Reflection of magnetostatic surface waves (MSSWs) by an infinitely thin, perfectly conducting microstrip line on a ferrite substrate is analyzed using the integral kernel expansion method. With the help of the Fourier transform, an integral equation for the current density on the strip is derived. The integral kernel of the equation is expanded in terms of orthogonal polynomials to obtain a kind of moment equation, which leads to a system of linear equations by applying Galerkin´s method to expansion of the unknown current. Reflection and transmission coefficients are calculated, whose computational results satisfy the energy conservation principle quite well. The dependence of reflection on the width of the strip and the frequency of incident wave is studied. It is shown that MSSWs are largely reflected when the width of the strip is nearly equal to multiple of wavelengths and that the direction of incident waves does not affect the reflection conspicuously
