Abstract :
A new concept in high-frequency DC/DC power conversion is proposed. Two new circuit topologies are proposed, based on the novel concept of a low switching frequency of the switch and high resonance frequency operation of the power convertor. The low frequency section feeds the energy from a DC source to an inductor, which is an integral part of the resonator-rectifier combination. Resonance takes place at a higher frequency as compared to the switching frequency. Thus, high frequency operation can be achieved with low switching losses. Output voltage regulation is achieved either by pulse width modulation and/or off-time variation. Good efficiency is achieved in the MHz range. Simulation results support the validity of the concept
